Monitoring Practice Engineer

As Monitoring Practice Engineer you  collaborate with the IT infrastructure team, the application service owners and our suppliers. You are responsible for ensuring  a solid monitoring practice and strategy is in place and integrated with the IT Service Management (ITSM) framework for automatic alerting, tracking, escalation and resolution of issues impacting our IT infrastructure, business applications and database services.

Role

  • You deliver the monitoring platform as a service (set-up, troubleshoot, maintain) to the various infrastructure and application teams across the firm;
  • You establish clear, well-defined monitoring standards across all service delivery teams in the company;
  • You establish guidelines around system alerting and alert routing to ensure efficient and timely response to infrastructure/system issues;.
  • You implement automation for monitoring and an audit process to ensure that systems are being monitored as defined;
  • You enforce best practices around data of collected metrics to ensure that we have the appropriate information required for real-time problem detection, rapid problem resolution and effective post-mortem analysis;
  • You are responsible for the deployment and configuration of New Relic;
  • You work closely  with the ServiceNow platform team to ensure proper integration with ServiceNow’s event management (ITOM);
  • You create and maintain documentation related to architecture and operational processes;
  • You establish and support the definition and execution of non-functional requirements (NFRs) and capabilities like security, scalability of solutions, fit-for-purpose architecture in alignment with enterprise architecture principles and standards.

Requirements

  • You have 3+ years of proven experience with New Relic or a comparable monitoring solution;
  • If you already have experience with SQL Sentry, or an equivalent MS SQL monitoring tool, MS SQL and T-SQL it is considered as a plus but experience with scripting (Bash, PowerShell, JSON, YAML) and Infrastructure-as-code software like Terraform is required;
  • In the past you were  monitoring integrations through APIs or SNMP
  • You have a solid understanding of DevOps-, CI/CD-, Quality Assurance Practices and Test-Automation, Code & Architecture Reviews;
  • You are used to work with a global team in a dynamic environment;
  • You describe yourself as proactive and motivated to learn new technologies and open to collaborate across multiple, internal and external development teams/integration partners and business stakeholders;
  • Experience building Platform roadmaps and aligning with Enterprise Architecture and IT strategy;
  • You are fluent in English (written and spoken); you understand that your stakeholders have different technical backgrounds so you should be able to adjust your expressions according to the audience you are speaking to. If you know any German, it is beneficial.
