Environmental Manager (Offshore program)

Your contribution:

Due to societal pressure on the energy transition, environmental management is becoming increasingly important. Only together with partners and stakeholders from society can we implement this energy transition effectively and carefully, including municipalities, provinces, water boards, interest groups, regional grid operators, as well as landowners and businesses. Our environmental managers play a key role in this.

Important tasks:

  • You will work together with our internal project teams and the Ministry of Climate and Green Growth on our programme for the South Holland and the North Sea;
  • You participate in the Regional Project Teams in South Holland and the North Sea and coordinate environmental activities in the other Regions for a uniform approach;
  • You have an overview of the most important stakeholders in the North Sea and in the South Holland region, maintain intensive contact with these stakeholders and are aware of the most important issues;
  • You identify important points of attention for stakeholders and take action accordingly;
  • You work with the Regional Director and other environmental managers in the South Holland region and liaise with fellow environmental managers who are involved in offshore projects elsewhere in the Netherlands;
  • You follow current events, compile files on relevant topics, maintain them and share relevant information within project teams;
  • You work from a uniform approach and standardized resources in the field of environmental management;
  • You are well informed about the medium and long-term developments of our programme(s) in the regions and the interests involved;
  • You participate in relevant consultations where appropriate, both internally and externally of the organisation;
  • You contribute to our organisations reputation and the consistency of our story;
  • You coordinate well with colleagues from Political Affairs, Corporate Communications and Media Relations and Offshore Development.

What do you need to be successful?

  • You have a relevant higher professional or university education, for example and preferably in the field of communication, public administration or spatial planning;
  • You have at least 5 years of experience in processes and participation, preferably in large infrastructure projects and/or complex assignments;
  • You are a self-managing professional who understands the complex playing field in which we operate and are able to deliver high-level environmental management;
  • You have an analytical mind and are good at thinking through scenarios and acting quickly. You are diplomatic, empathetic, can work independently, and are presentable;
  • You have extensive experience in developing environmental strategies, approaching participation processes and organizing them;
  • You are able to develop a stakeholder-specific approach based on complex issues;
  • You are able to connect organizations and people to our work in the region and create support;
  • You are proactive and a team player. You don't think in terms of problems, but in terms of opportunities and solutions.
  • You work alternately from the head office in Arnhem, from a regional office or (project) location or from home;
  • A network in and knowledge of the South Holland region is an advantage;
  • Above all, you are enthusiastic and driven to take on this role and work on the energy transition together with your colleagues.

Additional Information:

This is more of a facilitating role. We are specifically seeking an experienced environmental manager with experience in complex infrastructure projects. This is a strategic position (it is still before the planning phase, effectively a project development phase). An environmental manager with experience solely in the implementation phase is unfortunately not eligible. We are seeking an expert with a proactive attitude.

Work can be carried out remotely and from our stakeholder locations in South Holland, as our stakeholders are primarily present in the west of the Netherlands, South Holland); for example some locations are based in Rotterdam. It is also expected that some onsite work is performed at our location in Arnhem, at least one day per week.

*South Holland or Arnhem (as well as hybrid - home office option)
