We have developed a comprehensive Private Markets offering over the last few years; including dedicated investment structures that enabling HNW and UHNW clients to invest in private market opportunities.

As Head of Private Markets, you will report to the Group Chief Investment Officer via the CIO Chief of Staff and lead a team of private markets investment professionals. The Head Product Lifecycle Management will also report to you. You will be responsible for the full fiduciary value chain in our closed-end offering: from designing the shelf to sourcing, selecting and structuring attractive investment opportunities (funds, secondaries, co-investments) as well as monitoring and reporting on portfolio investments. You will also be directly and actively involved in the distribution and act as the global ambassador of our private markets capabilities, in close alignment with our business development organization and the Group Chief Investment Officer.

Taking over the leadership of a business grown organically over the past 6-8 years, you will be responsible for activating an ambitious strategic roadmap aimed at growing this line of business to the next level in the coming years, not least via institutional-grade change management and leadership skills.

Role

  • Lead of the Private Markets’ team and overall responsibility for the private markets offering of the bank
  • Manage and enrich the pipeline of private markets offering including investment structures (feeder funds) that enable sophisticated private banking clients to invest in the private equity, private real estate as well as real assets markets
  • Develop new offerings to strengthen the attractivity of the existing shelf, both via direct exposures to world class managers and companies as well as via the Group’s branded fund-of-funds structures and customized mandates
  • Act as an ambassador of our Private Markets capabilities to internal stakeholders but also to clients and prospects
  • Support, mentor, and coach the team in fund origination, due diligence, and selection
  • Support, mentor, and coach the team in the analysis and evaluation of secondary- and co-investment opportunities
  • Ensure high standards of monitoring & reporting for existing investments incl. production of attractive after-sales collateral for existing clients
  • Support sales & advisory teams in pitches and client requests
  • Ensure compliance with all legal, regulatory and compliance requirements across the entire value chain
  • Negotiate contracts with various service providers
  • Coordinate annual audits for the different products
  • Activate the Bank’s strategic roadmap to bring the fiduciary private markets business to the next level, including via process reviewing and optimization, private client experience improvements and cost optimization

Requirements

  • Excellent academic credentials: University/FH degree either in Business Administration, Economics or similar, CFA/CAIA/AZEK would be a plus
  • 10+ years of work as an investment professional in the private equity/private markets industry is a must
  • 3-5 years of leadership experience with setups of similar size would be a strong plus
  • Strong analytical, financial and modelling skills
  • Demonstrate strong investment judgement and fiduciary mindset, maximizing client return potential on a risk-adjusted basis.
  • Understanding of wealth management specificities and challenges
  • Excellent understanding of relevant product related regulatory environment
  • Deep and broad network in the industry including proven connections with existing GPs and other relevant providers
  • Outgoing personality with strong presentation skills and ability to inspire others
  • Strong interpersonal skills and capability to build and maintain relationship with private markets industry representatives, clients and colleagues across various levels within the firm
  • Outstanding sense of entrepreneurship, flexibility and motivation to lead a high-achieving team with diverse backgrounds to further grow in a changing environment
  • Strategic mindset and visionary spirit with strong drive to institutionalize and scale-up a highly strategic business
  • Impeccable attention to detail, strong project management and follow-through skills
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills in English. German, French and other languages would be an asset
  • Excellent pedagogical skills and appetite to educate internal and external stakeholders with heterogeneous levels of familiarity with the asset class
  •  Most importantly, the candidate will have the highest standards of personal and professional ethics and integrity, as well as a strong work ethic and team player mentality
